Perimenopause and beyond
The years when the body changes are the years worth understanding. Four nights above Nice (France), with doctors who explain rather than reassure.
A menopause retreat is a short stay built around one subject: what happens to the body in the years before and after periods stop, and what can be understood about it.
A menopause retreat is a residential stay, usually three to seven days, where women are given time and expert attention on the hormonal transition. Perimenopause begins on average in the mid-forties and can last several years. Menopause itself is a single date, twelve months after the last period. What women actually live through is the long, uneven stretch on either side of it.
Maison Longevity is a longevity retreat, and the menopause is one of its subjects. The distinction matters, and it is the reason women in this decade come.
Hormonal health is one of five fields covered across the four nights, alongside micronutrition, aesthetic medicine, movement and skin. Dr Badiou, a doctor registered with the French Ordre des Médecins, leads the Thursday workshop on hormonal health and what changes after thirty-five, together with Dr Kestemont. The other four fields are the ones the hormonal transition runs through: sleep, muscle mass, skin, energy, the way food is used.
Treating the subject alongside everything it touches is what a longevity retreat does.
Hot flushes are what everyone names. They are rarely the one that shapes the decade. What the four nights cover:
Sleep. Often the first thing to go, and the thing that makes everything else harder. What is happening, and what is known about it.
Muscle and bone. Both decline faster in this period. Strength work matters more from here on.
Skin. Collagen loss accelerates sharply around the transition. What protects it.
Energy and body composition. Why the same habits stop producing the same results, and what micronutrition explains about it.
Measurement. Skin and posture, looked at individually on site, so that each conversation starts from your own situation.
Each field has a named lead. You can read who leads what on the faculty page, and how the five days are built on the programme page.
Maison Longevity is not a clinic. No diagnosis is made at the retreat, and no treatment is prescribed or delivered. The doctors who lead the retreat explain and answer questions, and each woman leaves with a personal set of recommendations. What she decides to do with it belongs to her and to her own physician. No result is promised.
The four nights give you unhurried time with people who spend their working lives on these questions.
Your personal set of recommendations, with a nutrition sheet from Dr Garcia. Your individual skin analysis with Maison Valmont, and a selection of skincare to take home. Your posture analysis, with personalised recommendations. And a clear picture of where you stand.
You also leave having spent four days with other women in the same decade, never more than ten of you, which is the part nobody puts in a brochure and the part that stays with you afterwards.
It suits women who want to understand what is happening to them, and who prefer asking a doctor five questions in a garden to reading another article. It is designed for women between forty and sixty.
It suits you less if you are looking for treatment.
21 to 25 April 2027, four nights, in a private villa in the hills above Nice (France), on the French Riviera. Seven rooms, for up to ten women. Nice airport is twenty-five minutes away, and private transfers are included with the accommodation.
The retreat is open to women during perimenopause, after it, or before any of it has begun who want to understand what is ahead. It is built around the decade, whatever stage you are at.
Dr Badiou answers the questions each woman brings, during the Thursday afternoon workshop. No treatment is prescribed or delivered at the retreat, and any decision belongs to you and to your own physician.
The retreat is €5,500 in a private room, or €4,500 per person in a shared room, incl. VAT, everything included. It is booked as two separate services, each with its own agreement and its own payment: the programme, €2,000 per person, and the accommodation, €2,500 per person in a shared room, for two women who come together, or €3,500 in a private room, all incl. VAT. The programme includes an individual posture analysis of twenty minutes with the physiotherapist, with personalised recommendations, and one lymphatic drainage session, on request and subject to availability. A massage or an in-depth posture review can be added as an extra: it is arranged, booked and paid directly between you and the practitioner during the stay. Maison Longevity is not involved in this service. Each price is set out on the rates page, and the remaining questions on the FAQ.
Understanding what is happening to you is what makes the next twenty years yours.
